Unmasked

„Unmasked“ is a photographic series that seeks to challenge and deconstruct the distorted beauty standards set by social media, presenting raw, unedited portrayals of diverse bodies and personas. The series aims to initiate a dialogue around body positivity and self-acceptance, steering clear of retouching or digital manipulation, to encourage embracing our authentic selves. The core of the project is the comfortable and supportive environment created for the models, encouraging them to reveal their unfiltered selves - an endeavour that‘s not without its challenges due to the pervasive influence of social media on our self-perception.

The selection of the thick, rough paper for both the cover and content of the book was an intentional choice aimed at mirroring the raw and authentic essence of the series. The texture of this paper is reminiscent of human skin, a feature that prominently appears in the photographs of the series. As for the cover, the light brown paper infused with real brewer's grains was chosen for its earthy and lively aesthetic. This material speaks to authenticity and organic beauty, resonating perfectly with the project's ethos. The brewer's grains also give the cover a unique texture and character, making each copy distinct - a nod to the individuality and uniqueness celebrated in the series.
